This is a small ancient town located 30km southeast of Danang.
It was once famous and prosperous since the 16th & 17th centuries as a port where Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese and Italian traders exchanged their goods, even built houses and lived here. Rows of houses with original mixed architecture of Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese styles can be found in the town. Many houses were built with precious wood and decorated with wood carving panels, parallel sentences and supported by wood pillars meticulously carved with flowers. Only being to Hoi An do tourists find the reason why Hoi An becomes a World's Cultural Heritage
